The platform was developed in order to enhance the effectiveness of knowledge sharing and information dissemination within the RE sector of the ASEAN region. ASEAN Renewables is an informative website of the ASEAN Center for Energy (ACE), developed with the support of ASEAN Renewable Energy Support Program. The platform features announcements of RE news and events in the region, a database of reports and studies on RE in the ASEAN and its member states, RE country profiles of all member states, links to relevant actors in the ASEAN RE sector as well as an ASEAN RE business directory which is currently under development.

In the short and medium term, energy efficiency is the biggest, fastest, and most cost-effective option for saving energy and mitigating climate change. Energy efficiency in buildings will especially play a major role as this has the potential to contribute up to 38% to the necessary reductions of greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. However, while information on technologies and policies is abundant, it is scattered loosely and decision-makers find it difficult to access.
