For more than a year, energypedia has been online now allowing an ever-growing energy expert community to share their experiences on renewable energy and energy efficiency! Given the increasing interest in energypedia's content and our principle believe in the benefits of free knowledge-exchange, we have decided to open energypedia to the general public. By September 2011 everyone will be able to read articles and browse through energypedia like on any other website without prior registration. However, editing of articles and access to wiki workspaces will still be restricted to registered users only.

[[Image:Screenshoot new design PicoPV Database.png|thumb|right|New energypedia design]]With the opening other changes will be implemented as well which are primarily intended to make energypedia easier to handle and overall more attractive. For example, a more user-friendly editor will be introduced. Furthermore, the existing portal structure will be re-arranged allowing a better navigation and a quicker overview. Additionally, we are currently working on a comprehensive makeover of enerypedia's design which will highlight the editable wiki pages. This will not only improve the overall appearance but also increase usability. Click on the right box for a sneak preview!

Energpedia would like to inform you about some additional changes:

*The opening makes a revision of energypedia's current privacy policy necessary before the end of August. Although the final version is not yet finished, energypedia will guarantee that all personal information, for example user names and profiles, will be only visible to registered users.
*In order to reduce the risk of copyright infringements, all files to which no links from other sites link to will be deleted within the next two weeks. If you come across any documents or pages which might be a case of plagiarism or copyright violation, please report this to [mailto:info@energypedia.info energypedia].
*Please remember that energypedia is a wiki and not a file sharing platform. In future you can only upload files if you are either the author, authorized by the author or have the appropriate license.
*Moreover, we would like to stress that energypedia works under the [http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ CC-BY-SA 3.0] license meaning that all content on energypedia is free to share and can be adapted by others. Should you disagree with this, please make sure that your contributions in energypedia (not in the wiki workspaces/subdomains "your organization.energypedia.info") are deleted before 30 August or that you contact [mailto:info@energypedia.info energypedia].
*Based on user feedback, we would like to make you aware of the possibility to disable the automatic email notification of energypedia's newsblog (deactivate "E-mail me on new newsblog articles" under "My preferences"). For new users this function will be disabled by default.
