|Fuel Pricing Policies=The downstream fuel sector in France is liberal and privatized. However, oil companies are in a oligopolistic position.

An official, governmental website offers a complete and up-to-date database of any fuel price at any gas station in the country (www.prix-carburants.gouv.fr). Customers can very easily find the cheapest fuel retailer in their region. Values are updated daily, as fuel retailers are forced to transfer their fuel prices to the government daily. This powerful fuel price monitoring implicated a high price pressure on the whole market. Retailers margins (including transport, storage, retailing...) are low compared to other EU-countries. However, taxation is one of the highest worldwide.
