La consommation électrique élevée des bâtiments civils raccordées au réseau STEG ainsi que la charge excessive de l'éclairage public représentent un des défis majeurs auquel le secteur municipal fait face.
Les municipalités font partie des secteurs qui recèlent un potentiel très important en termes d’économies d’énergie, que ce soit avec des actions d’efficacité énergétique que des actions de substitution de l’électricité consommée avec l’énergie solaire photovoltaïque. Il est donc essentiel de mobiliser l’intérêt des autorités municipales et de les sensibiliser autour des avantages qu’offre cette démarche durable dans le secteur communal.
Dans ce contexte, le projet « Renforcement du Marché Solaire » (RMS), mis en œuvre par la GIZ en coopération avec l’ANME, a organisé trois ateliers sur les opportunités de l’énergie solaire photovoltaïque pour les municipalités, à Sfax, Gabès et Jendouba avec la présence des autorités communales locales.
