| Abstract
|
Biogas is produced by the fermentation of biomass. Biogas contains methane; as a renewable and versatile
supplier of electricity, heat and fuel, it is a major contributor to a safe and sustainable energy supply. Biogas
can be stored or fed into the natural gas network, which adds to its flexibility of use. As an all-rounder,
biogas will be able to supply around ten per cent of the natural gas requirements by 2020, without affecting
food production
