The Global LEAPOff-Grid Cold Chain Challenge (“the Challenge”) is a global competition to identify the most energy-efficient, sustainable, and affordable technologies that can meet the diverse cold storage requirements for fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, meat, and fishproduced by smallholders and affiliated value chain playersin off-and weak-grid areas.The Challenge is structured in two stages. The first stage requires participants to submit technical information about their cold storage solutions as well as information about theirbusiness model, target markets, and other aspects of their commercial strategy. The second stage requires participants to undergofield evaluation (of at least 6 months) in eitherKenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Nigeria, or India.
