The Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources is in charge of setting fuel prices. Prices, when changed, are communicated to the public via press statements. However, old statements are missing on their website and also any further information regarding the pricing mechanisms and the price composition.
Due to an internet news article (Botswana Gazette, May 26th 2010 → Appendix A2), prices did not change from August 2009 until May 2010. It seems that prices did not change since May 2010 (as of December 13th 2010).
Due to a ministry press statement (May 19th 2010 →Appendix A1), petrol is almost completely imported from South Africa (RSA) and also some smaller amounts from Namibia, making Botswana highly dependent on those countries.
