Abstract:
|
This report shows two very important results. First, the energy situation of displaced populations varies and there are positive developments, for example in the usage of solar home systems. However, many more efforts like the RE4R project are needed to achieve SDG 7 for refugees and their hosts in the coming decade. Second, the report shows the importance of a holistic assessment of the energy situation, which is still not the case in many similar projects
nowadays. It is for example not enough to look at energy for cooking and ignore electricity for households or essential common infrastructure. In that sense, the total energy access approach and the holistic way of assessing, reporting and changing the energy situation should be a model for future projects in the humanitarian energy sector.
